For the third time this monsoon, sections of Rajajipuram were under knee-deep water within an hour of Tuesday's downpour, residents say — a familiar complaint in a neighbourhood where drainage upgrades have been promised for two budget cycles running.

We've cleared the main drain lines twice this month. The bottleneck is the older lateral pipes, and that's a bigger job.

Lucknow Municipal Corporation spokesperson

The LMC confirmed a lateral-pipe replacement project is budgeted for this year but hasn't started, citing tendering delays. No firm start date was given.

We'll keep checking in on this one as the monsoon continues.
